Introduction

You and your friend are elves at the North Pole.  Santa is curious about how the children of other countries celebrate Christmas.  Do these other children need Santa?  Do they decorate Christmas trees or hang stockings from the fireplace?  Do children in their countries sleep and dream of Santa while he leaves lots of goodies under the tree?  Santa needs the answers to these questions and you are the elves who will help him out.  You will travel across the world and visit other couuntries.  Jump aboard our train and help Santa out.

The Task

After riding this express you will see how some countries celebrate Christmas as well as enjoy some games from an American Christmas.

• Keep a journal about the different countries.
• Print and color pictures and Christmas card.
• Compare our Christmas to Another countries Christmas.
• Write a letter to Santa.

The Process

For you to be a good helper there are a few steps you need to follow.  Be sure to follow directions and have fun.

1. Find a partner
2. Get pencil and paper for a journal
3. Complete the data sheet
4. Decide who will read and who will write
5.  Both students need to color the pictures.

  Click on the snowman to print your data sheet. Click on the button beside"OPen It." Once it up click on the print button one time. Some of the words are difficult so sound them out as best you can.  Work together to read about the countries.Once you have read click on the back button at the top of your screen. Then click on another country to visit.

   Now that you have helped Santa visit other countries let's celebrate an American Christmas. Here are some songs and games to play.  Have fun and take turns.

     Get your journal and write about the countries you visited. How are they like our Christmas and how are they different?
 

 

You will be evaluated on several tasks. The completion of your data sheet, journal writing, and your finished work. You will be expected to give a report to your class about the countries you discovered.

Conclusion

Thanks for helping Santa learn about the different traditions from other countries. We have learned that even though we celebrate differently we all still believe in the magic of the season.
