New Attendance Areas

oIn May of 2005, the District Five Board of Trustees, in response to continued growth in the area, adopted a Long Range Building Plan.  The plan called for the following:
  • Construction of a new D. R. Hill Middle School on Highway 358
  • Renovations to the current D. R. Hill campus, which will become the James F. Byrnes Freshman Academy
  • Construction of an athletic field house at Byrnes High School
  • Construction of a new elementary school on Highway 358
  • Construction of a new elementary school in the southwestern portion of the District
  • Connstruction of an auditorium and band rehearsal facility at Byrnes High School
These projects, along with shifting fourth grade from intermediate school to elementary school, would create capacity for growth at every school in District Five.

With the addition of new schools, it is now necessary for District Five to develop and implement new attendance areas.

Pending completion of the new D. R. Hill Middle School, the District will implement new attendance areas for all intermediate and middle school students in August of 2007.

Pending the completion of Lyman and Abner Creek Elementary Schools, the District will implement new attendance areas for all elementary students in August of 2008.
